For more than a century, the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department (CHVFD) has provided communities throughout Maryland’s Prince George County with a variety of fire and emergency services support. Staffed by a number of career emergency services personnel and local volunteers, CHVFD maintains a diverse fleet of vehicles in order to adequately address a range of emergency situations.
The department’s fire fighting apparatus is highlighted by Engine 805B, a 1989 FMC 1500 GPM pumper featuring a Spartan cab, and Engine 805, known throughout the department and surrounding community as Courage. CHVFD also runs a fully equipped ambulance and utility truck, as well as a fire safety house used at schools and public events to educate children about fire safety.
